I'm a 24 year old inspiring writer currently living in Wisconsin with my husband and kids. I am originally from Chicago, IL so that is where my heart is.

Hello. My name is Sarah Haines and I'm a recent college graduate who loves writing, editing, reading, and most other things you can do with words. I currently have a fantasy novel in progress, and I'm looking forward to getting to know other writers.

Awesome to have you, Sarah. There is a great thriving Fantasy section in this forum and look forward to reading some of your work. I really admire someone who loves to edit. It is the bane of my existence.-DavidG

Hey everyone,

My name is Sammi and I'm 17 years old going to be 18 next month. I started thinking of writing as a career. I have always loved to write different things but have never thought of it as a source of income. I write a lot of poetry and trying to start on short stories. Then hopefully eventually writing novels. I'm not sure how to start getting my name and work out there for other writers and publishers to view. So, I was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice for me. Thanks :)

Welcome to WD, Sammi. You might want to nose over to the YA Fiction forum and browse around a bit. Maybe you have a short piece you'd like to post there for critique?

To answer your question simply, you must write, and you must send your work out for publication. And repeat often.

if you have poems good enough to be submitted, go to www.duotrope.com to find the venues that are likely to take the type of work you have to offer...
