This is gutsy after seeing the lovely collage, and even the I'm-hungry-let's-eat photos, but I'm not a photographer and it took me several hours to shoot the video of my hobby. Add to that, I have the voice of a short-breathed man. (I'm neither short-breathed, that I noticed, nor a man. )

But my hobby is our garden. (Hubby's hobby is cooking, thus lots of herbs.) I live in a rowhome with a 16' X 16' back yard, but I have about every plant I want out back (except for trees.) Just don't expect artistic quality in the video or the narration. (Also, I'm not good with posting video links, so I'm not sure I'm doing this right. I've even previewed and I don't know if I'm doing this right.)

Wow! You fit a lot of garden in a little space, Lynn. Very nice.

@atwhatcost - Wow! You have more in your little backyard than I have in my yard and ours is nearly an acre! I'm very impressed. I'd love to have an herb garden, but my hubby says he doesn't like "weeds" in his food. After almost seventeen years, he's starting to give in a little, but he still pulls out the bay leaves when I make stew. (while it's cooking)

@updog - I love peacocks. I grew up in an extremely small town, there was a resident peacock everyone called the mayor from the way he strutted around.

@gooblink - Do you make wine?! I've dabbled in it a little and made some decent stuff. Then again...some of it I could be used to remove paint.

I do get a kick from the women convincing hubbies to like herbs. In our case, I was the one that needed convincing. The only way he convinced me is the same way parents talk their kids into eating vegetable, by having them grow them. Funny thing, the first two "herbs" we grew were Russian sage and lavender. I didn't study up on the plants much back then. We ate Russian sage on pizza for half a summer before we found out it's poisonous. We then found out most people don't eat lavender. (It's not poisonous.) It's an interesting taste -- something like sweeter rosemary.

(He found a rosemary plant today in the produce section of the grocery store! Yay! We have rosemary again!)

I still won't eat spicy (except for curry), but hubby is making chicken drumsticks coated -- like breadcrumbs coated -- with fresh (common) sage. I can't wait!

He also talked me into liking summer squash, after we grew some one year. (Squirrels started eating the roots, so we haven't been able to grow any since.) I had a good excuse not to like it before that. My dad over cooked it, so it felt like slimy, soggy mushrooms, but had no taste.

I so appreciate finding a guy who likes to cook. I'll make desserts, but I'm not big on making dinner. After Dad retired, he went to cooking school. My younger brother is a master chef now. I keep trying to convince guys that "men cook. Women eat." :D
