Crying is a necessary release to settle internal conflict. Sometimes when men, or women, cry over the "little things" it's because they were so rigid during the big things. When you are the one in charge, the strong one, the one who everyone looks up to for strength and guidance, you try to not cry in front of people during that traumatic thing because you are the only one level-headed enough to stay in control and focused. Then you walk down the street and see a dead bird under a tree and bawl your eyes out. You're not crying over the bird (or maybe you are, kind of) you're crying over something real connected to something personal.
