low black intensity reported by Create Space

Postby igabc » Wed Jul 23, 2014 4:55 pm

We are publishing a book through Create Space. We noticed that the black (fonts, writing) is not very strong compared to another book printed by them.
We've been told that the black value in our file is not 100% black.
I checked Open Office and the PDF exporting settings but I can't find any place where I can adjust the levl of black.
Before posting here I googled about it, finding nothing but a post in a forum, dated 2009, where it was reported that OO didn't export in CYMK (only in RGB) which may caused the blacks to be weaker when printed by a professional printer.

I can't find a solution to this problem so I thought about posting here.

Thanks!
G

Hi, you might want to have this moved to Writer's Block forum. You will probably get more responses over there. PM Terry or PLS if you do want to move it

All the best,
Elizabeth

Yes, I can move this if you want.

And I'll add a slightly-snarky response that you get what you pay for by using Open Office, which is no longer supported by its creators. Bite the bullet and invest in Word. You won't regret it.
