How to go about finding an editor

Hello,
I joined today as I thought this site would connect me with folks with vastly more knowledge than myself. Anyways I finished my second draft and now am in the process of finding an editor. I am looking for someone who has a good track record and can polish my book but have no idea about where to look for said editor. Can anyone provide me with any advice on where to find an editor specifically who specializes in the sci-fi genre and has some notoriety?

Thanks in advance

What are your plans for your novel? I'm assuming self-publishing since you posted here.

Yes at the moment self publishing is my goal.

On a side note I reached out to one editor and asked if they could edit two pages just as sampler they said they wouldn't not fully knowing my work but given the cost of a good editor is this typical?

Some writing groups on Facebook list editors whose services are available. You'd need to search Facebook to find the group suited to your needs. Indie Author Group is one of the best.
