Been trying to ask about the new forum (Rob's) that got mentioned a bit earlier, but the system keeps telling me my message has too few characters. Is this enough?

Try that link, Lyn. I hope it works. :)

@noizchild - What are you working on now?

I'm trying to start a short story for the latest Glimmer Train contest - I've got about 10 days left  As always, it's the first few sentences that drive me crazy - once I get those down solid, I should be okay. But I'm also facing all the fall yard and house work prepping for snow. Blech.

Break a pencil. Which category were you planning to enter?

Ten days should be plenty for a short story if you have an idea to work on that you like.
You only need 300, or 1000, words depending on the category.

GLIMMER TRAIN CONTEST: NEW (UNPUBLISHED) WRITERS
Sept/Oct 2017 Short Story Award for New Writers
Ends on October 31, 2017 $18.00 USD

Most entries run from 1000 - 5000 words, but any lengths up to 12,000 words are welcome.

CONTEST GUIDELINES very short fiction
The Very Short Fiction Contest is open to all writers.
Any story that has not appeared in a print publication is welcome.
We invite any length stories from 300 to 3,000 words.

I'm going for the New Writer award. And yes, there's plenty of time left, but I want to give myself as much time as possible to build up my anxieties...

We'll need a new lounge soon.
