Paul was a wonderful man, full of style and grace. I joined WD years ago and fell in love with him and some of the others who have long since disappeared.

He never let on how serious his illness was; he didn't want the sympathy or pity - he just wanted to be Paul.

I will miss him.

Wait, Paul is dead?
You ask me what I thought about
Before we were lovers.
The answer is easy.
Before I met you
I didn't have anything to think about.

That is what oldtimers post said. Saw it on facebook.
PLS was not visible here lately so believable, more so since he said he was sick and maybe at hospice.

Like several others on this forum, Paul was my Facebook friend and we commented regularly on that platform. I was shocked and saddened when his brother, Kim, let us know about Paul's passing. It was especially hard to believe after Paul's hopeful post on the 19th, which I copy below.

Now I know what it feels like to have a compression fracture of a vertebra. Got up Friday morning to deep pain in my lower back to the point where by Sunday I couldn't get out of bed. Had to take an expensive ambulance ride to the ER where they diagnosed me from an X-ray and prescribed percodin, a pain killer. There was talk of assisted living, nursing homes, etc., but luckily the pain-killer is working well enough so that I can get up and around a bit, but I found out the hard way that I really have to be careful how I move. Finally got someone from hospice to come out and get me on in-home care. I hope this works out!

I'm so sorry to hear that he passed away. Paul was a great mentor to me and I'm sure to others as well. I'm going to miss sending him a monthly email and seeing his critics on here.

My heart and deepest sympathy goes out to all his friends and family. He is really going to be missed. The funny thing is today I had thought about shooting him an email to check on him and then I decided to come on here first. The news kind of shocked me in a way because the way he talked last time we spoke he was doing okay, I guess he did want anybody to worry too much about him. I hope the rest of you are doing well. I need to check in more often on here but I've not been feeling very well myself but it's nothing serious. It's going to be hard coming on here and not seeing his comments, man I'm sure going to miss him giving me advice.[/color]

Letting Go
It’s hard to lose someone
you love.
And it’s often hard to
let go.
You ask yourself did they
have to leave?
Why could they not
stay?
Hoping we can understand
some day.
Yet you still cry
deep inside.
Always wanting to
hold on.
But letting go of
the hurt.

Paul will be missed greatly. I'm sorry everybody.

I am saddened to hear of Paul's passing. His presence here will be greatly missed.

I learned much from him about writing, patience, and persistence. Remember the time he wrote 50,000 words of a nano novel in only 6 days? That was awesome. That was Paul for you. When my moniker "rosebud" couldn't log on for 2 years, he stuck by me as I attempted to follow his instructions to log back on. Many of us eventually changed our WD names to rejoin the group.

I'm sure we all have our stories about Paul.

Love you, Paul. Rest in peace.
