Concept Proposal - How-to Question

Postby abqwriter » Sun Feb 19, 2006 4:41 am

The agent I met with asked for a concept proposal.

I assume this is a "synopsis" written ahead of time.  I think this book will be much stronger than my last, because the idea from beginning to end is very strong and linear, unlike the struggle I went through to write a synopsis of the last book after the fact.

Any other guidance for those of you who've written a concept proposal for an agent or editor?

I have no idea. I'm always weary of agents who ask for such things where novels are concerned, but it may well be this agent is just asking for a synopsis in a fancy way.

I started work on the book and sent a "synopsis" of what the story will cover.  I also sent the first ten pages to give her an idea of style, voice, etc.

She likes it and wants to see the manuscript when it is finished.

Sounds absolutely wonderful.  Can't wait to read it after you publish.  Will you sign a copy?
