Does anyone know a good website to find agents?

Postby Ar4wY » Wed Feb 15, 2006 8:25 pm

I'm just wondering if anyone knows any good websites for finding agents...

ARR i know about (ARR is the right...abrieviation right?)
PublishersMarketplace i think so too...

But i think there was one featured on Writers Digest that i really liked, but lost the url.
So if anyone knows any good website, could you pass the url over :D

Thanks in advance!

It's Association of Artists' Representatives.    You can also go to P & E Literary Agents (Preditors and Editors) at:

I've used this one, too.

Hope it might help!

Mining the archives of my blog, I found a few less well-known resources:

http://everyonewhosanyone.com/

http://www.authorsteam.com/agentlist.pdf

http://www.bksp.org/Agents%20That%20Acc ... n%20Nelson).pdf

Why are you ruling out paper resources (books)?  Sometimes you can borrow a recent issue of the WD bible on agents from your library.  Fee-based databases of agents also exist, but I don't know any listing that is as exhaustive as what you'll find in the book.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the websites!

I haven't exacly given up on book sources...it's just that small text on thin paper, in big books with names kinda remind me of the yellowbook...also gives me the same feeling. Daunting.

Thanks everyone, and next time i'm at the library i'll be sure to pick up a copy of WD's latest agent...thingy, for the lack of a better name.

Hey!

You may have already done this but if not, go back to AAR and subscribe to "Agent's Actively Looking" newsletter.

There are a lot of agents registered with AAR, which is good, but the news letter has really been cool. Ever since I subscribed, I recieve these email updates of the different agent's activities. It tells me that so-and-so began actively seeking new clients in the such-and such genre. They may not have been available for querying a week ago but the letter lets you know that they're back and its ok to contact them.

It's a good resource.

You could also try "newyorkliteraryagency.com". The company has several different agents that deal with many different types of writing. If they find your work interesting and decide to represent you you'll be assigned an agent that deals with your specific genre. It's worth a try. Let me know how it goes!

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. If I come across anything else I'll let you know.

Best of luck!!

Sheri
