child writing website recommendations?

Postby leathamm » Mon Jan 30, 2006 9:25 pm

Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations to a good children's fiction writing websites where I can post stories and receive critiques (much like this one). Free is great, but I don't mind paying a membership fee if it's worth it! Any suggestions?

did you google or yahoo search for anything?

There's a site called Critters that is run by a college prof somewhere out west.  He charges a fee, but not monetary.  You have to critique four of other writer's efforts before you can have one of yours critiqued.  I think it's all forms of writing too.  And please post short stuff here, we'll all take naps with our blankies before reading it.

Here are two that we had on last year's "101 Best Web Sites for Writers":

Verla Kay's Web Site for Children's Writers
URL: www.verlakay.com/
This site has resources for children's writers and illustrators including writing tips, business advice and transcripts from award-winning author Verla Kay's workshops

Write 4 Kids
URL: www.write4kids.com
This site provides lots of great information to start or continue your career as a children's writer. It offers a monthly newsletter, tips, message boards, articles and reference books.

You can view the entire list here:

101 Best Web Sites for Writers 2005

The new list will be in our May issue.
