Literary agent Scott Eagan of Greyhaus Literary loves to teach and loves talking with writers. His blog on writing & publishing was recently named one of the best agent blogs on the Internet in our master list of the 101 Best Websites For Writers. That’s why it’s very exciting that he will be teaching a new webinar, “How to Target Agents and Editors: Market Your Novel to the Right People,” on May 19, 2011. Read on to learn more about how to target agents and the webinar’s critique component.
It all goes down at 1 p.m. EST, Thursday, May 19, 2011, and lasts 90 minutes. If you cannot attend the live event, you will still get everything. You can still get a critique, you can access the recording of the webinar afterward, and you can still send the speaker questions (and no question goes unanswered).
1. Learn how to identify and target the best agents & editors for your work. Too often, writers receive countless rejections for their writing
projects—not so much because the writing is bad, but simply because they
are sending their projects to the wrong people. Writers need to learn
how to target their searches for the right agent and the right
publisher. This session teaches writers how to dissect both their own writing and
that of published authors to understand their individual writing voice
and that of the publishers. Before the session is over, you will understand how to showcase your writing in a pitch paragraph, how to successfully dissect markets to learn the taste of editors/agents, and much more.
2. A free critique from Scott. All registrants are invited to submit a pitch paragraph (200 words or fewer) in advance of the event. All submitted pitches are guaranteed a critique by the agent instructor, Scott Eagan. Be aware: Scott is acquiring new clients and will ask for sample chapters from any outstanding pitches he receives.
3. Ask questions. Got a burning question about how to target the right people in your publishing journey? Ask Scott! He is here to help, and will be taking questions. No question goes unanswered.
