Reminder: Newer agents are golden opportunities for new writers because they’re likely building their client list; however, always make sure your work is as perfect as it can be before submitting, and only query agencies that are a great fit for your work. Otherwise, you’re just wasting time and postage.
About Erin: Erin Harris is an agent at the Irene Skolnick Literary Agency. She represents (among others): David Yezzi, executive editor of The New Criterion and author of the forthcoming biography ANTHONY HECHT: Poet and the Age (St. Martin’s Press); Rosalie Knecht, the English language translator of Cesar Aira’s THE SEAMSTRESS AND THE WIND (New Directions); Bryan Furuness, author of the forthcoming novel, THE LOST EPISODES OF REVIE BRYSON (Dzanc); and Carla Power, a Times Magazine contributor and former Newsweek correspondent. A graduate of the MFA program in creative writing at The New School, Erin received her B.A. in English from Trinity College (Hartford, CT), where she was Presidential Fellow of the English Department and inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
She is seeking: literary novels with compelling plots and international settings; literary thrillers and mysteries (She’d love to find the next Tana French!); noirs (especially starring headstrong female protagonists); and YA and middle grade novels that transport her to magical places.
How to submit: You can query Erin via email at submissions (at) skolnickagency.com. Your query should include: a description of your manuscript, your contact information, and your author bio. In the author bio, be sure to inform her of any previous publications, awards, professional and/or academic affiliations, and media appearances. In addition, please paste the first 10 pages of your manuscript into the body of your e-mail. She will not open attachments unless they have been requested.
